Instant Banknote Collection!
I went crazy one time at an international airport years ago that had an exchange booth.
The woman in booth was bored and we got to talking. I told her I collected foreign currency and asked if she would let me have one bill from each country she had i.e. the lowest domination and ask her to try to pick the ones in the best shape. She agreed I think I spent around $150?
I know my wife thought I was nuts seeing me walked away with a wad of bills...but she is use to this now!

Haha that's great - I always try to bring back some paper if I go overseas.

I used to get some from the currency exchange booth at Fisherman's wharf in SF, but later they started wanting to charge a hefty conversion fee so I had to stop getting them there.

Haha that reminds me! I once went to a currency exchange and asked if I could get British coins, and whether I could choose which ones... She looked at me like I had three eyes.

Nice idea. my wife likes bank notes. I like metal. She was buying up old banana money in Malaysia - so named because the Japanese occupation notes included people picking bananas on the back. She remembers playing with stacks of the then defunct and worthless currency as a kind. Now even the poor condition stuff is worth a bit since war memorabilia collecting caught on.
