Taiwan 5 Yuan Empty Taiwan 5 Yuan

I found a Taiwan 5 Yuan sorting nickels; it looks like its from the 80's

Just out of curiosity, I looked up conversion to US dollars. It quoted NEW YUAN

Did Taiwan devalue its currency? Are Yuans from the 80's worthless?

Still fine from what I know. I one Taiwanese Yuan = @0.03 US. So 15 cents roughly.

I think the "new" was added back in 1948 or something after they were officially separate from Red China.
