Spanish Reales
I recently finished a rough "type set" of Spanish colonial coins as I now have a 1, 2, 4, and 8 Real coin from the colonial period. The smaller denominations are very worn and the 8 Real is chopped-marked to death, but you have to start somewhere!

Re: Spanish Reales
I bought one (I think it was a 2 reales) at a small local coin show. The guy didn't know what it was, and "didn't think it was really silver;" so I said how bout a buck? Took it home, attributed it, put it in a 2x2, took it back the next month's show where there was a big world coin dealer, and sold it for $15 in trade on British coins. Sweet.

Re: Spanish Reales
Those old Spanish reales are fun because of all the possible mints. Is it Peru? Guatemala?
Where are your types from?
PICS PLEASE!!!

Re: Spanish Reales
I'd love to pick up a piece of eight ,preferably all eight pieces intact.
I don't think you can find one for under $50 though.
